Held in the harbour-side city of Sydney, the SWF is a mega-event showcasing some 300 events for over 100,000 festival-goers. Australian and International guest writers combine with intellectuals, scientists and journalists to present the latest in fiction, non-fiction and more. There are free and paid events as well as live streaming for regional areas. Definitely needs to be on the bucket-list to attend.

Ubud Writers & Readers Festival

Southeast Asia’s leading festival of words and ideas was born as a healing project following the first tragic bombing in Bali. It has grown to encompass readers and writers from the region and beyond who engage in spirited cross-cultural sharing and inspiration. Ubud is described as the cultural heart of Bali and the Festival is an exemplar of the spirit of the mountain area. Ticketing usually starts around July.
